Kiara is known by her clients as #thelochealer.
Her admiration for locs was birthed while watching musicians like Erykah Badu, Busta Rhymes and Lauryn Hill on TV as a child.
That admiration blossomed into action when she began her loc journey in October 2017. After months of contemplation and countless hours researching the loc'ing process on Google and YouTube, she decided to start her loc journey herself instead of going to a salon.
In retrospect, thank God she did.
A few months after starting her locs, she began retwisting & styling the locs of close friends and family members -- not for money but for the love of the craft. In 2020, the pandemic inspired Kiara to move from Virginia, her home state, to the big and bustling city of Los Angeles. Instead of returning to corporate America, she decided to leave over ten years in the property management industry to build and launch her loc care business and brand: ✨ iRetwist Locs ✨
Starting out of her small studio apartment in downtown L.A., she quickly transitioned to renting a booth at a celebrity beauty salon in Hollywood. Working alongside hair stylists with a roster of celebrity clients from Coi Leray to Rubi Rose, Kiara gained a lot of knowledge and experience in the hair and beauty industry.​ After being there a few months, one of her clients referred her to a luxury barbershop in downtown L.A. that proved to be a better fit for her brand and clientele.

Due to personal reasons, Kiara decided to move back home to Virginia in the summer of 2023 where she settled in Northern Virginia and established her own salon suite in Alexandria. After a year and a half, she returned to Los Angeles and designated California her second home.
Her main focus in 2026 is to continue rebuilding her clientele. She still travels to the east coast periodically to service her Virginia-based clients.
She​ plans to open a salon and spa that services all aspects of the beauty and wellness industry with a holistic approach in the next few years.
