The purpose of the New Client Consultation is to ensure we are on the same page regarding your loc session before you book. It's a 15 minute video call via Zoom that allows us to discuss the service you desire, any additional services you may need, any hair or loc damage you may have, your hair or loc length and size, how long your session may take, pricing and specials. It also allows me to guide you through the online booking process in case you have any questions or run into any issues. The call creates a safe space for you to ask questions and express concerns regarding your hair as well as our loc care practices and policies to calm any fears you may have regarding your loc journey. I also offer loc care advice based on my expertise and experience as a loctitian that you can implement at home. At the end of the consultation, I provide you with a code that gives you a $25 credit towards your loc session if you decide to book before we end the call. Booking with a new loctitian can be scary so I want to make the experience as smooth and seamless as possible for you :)
Glad you asked! Select the initial service you desire - retwist, starter or instant locs - on the Book Online page. You can have multiple services in one loc session. After you select the services and the date and time you would like the services completed, you will be prompted to answer a few questions and pay a minimum $50 deposit. Once the deposit is paid, you will receive an email confirming your booking request has been received. New clients must schedule a Zoom consultation before booking services.
Pricing is listed on the Services and Pricing page along with a full description of the services I offer.
A standard loc session includes a shampoo, cleaning up of parts, retwist, 30 minutes under the dryer and oil on the scalp & locs. You can add additional services when booking your loc session.
A standard loc session starts at $95 for a retwist service with no style and can increase depending on your loc size and length.
You can book a loc session up to two months in advance.
The $50 deposit reserves the date and time agreed upon after I receive and confirm your booking request. It schedules your loc session on my calendar so no one else can select that time slot. The deposit solidifies and guarantees your loc session with iRetwist Locs. It also covers a 15 minute grace period. For example, if your loc session is scheduled for 10a, you must be in the chair no later than 10:15a or I reserve the right to cancel your loc session. The deposit also covers (1) rescheduled loc session if you cancel before your loc session starts. The deposit is applied to the total balance due at the end of your loc session.
You must book your loc session online and pay the deposit with a debit card. Cash, Cash App, Zelle, Venmo & PayPal are accepted for all in-person transactions.
The deposit is only refundable if I have to cancel your loc session and we are not able to reschedule in a timely manner. If this happens, I will notify you immediately and reschedule at your convenience or refund the deposit upon request.
Your deposit covers you for up to 15 minutes. Please let me know in advance if you are running behind schedule. If you are more than 15 minutes late, I reserve the right to cancel your loc session and hold the deposit or accept you and charge a late fee. Your loc session can be rescheduled if you let me know you can't make it before your loc session begins. No call / no shows will not be rescheduled and the deposit will be held.
If you cancel before your loc session begins, the deposit will be held and I can reschedule your loc session. I understand that life happens. However, no call / no shows will not be rescheduled.
A loc session is typically 3-5 hours but can run longer. There are many factors that can affect how long a loc session runs such as the size and length of your locs, how much build-up your locs are holding and how much new growth you have. Additional services such as taking down styles, removing lint, blowdrying, crocheting or interlocking roots, styling, repairing, reattaching, treating and trimming your locs can also add time to your loc session.
Business hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 10a to 6p. The salon is closed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Loc sessions are by appointment only. I do not accept walk-ins. As a courtesy, I offer early bird (8a-12p) and evening (6-10p) sessions for an additional $50 fee.

Yes. If you prefer to enjoy the luxury of being serviced in the comfort of your home, I'll do the travel for you! The travel fee is $75. Your location must be within a 30 minute commute. Home visit requests outside that radius will be denied. To request a home visit, add the Home Visit Fee when you book your loc session. I will notify you once approved. You must be a loyal client - new clients must come to the salon for their initial loc session.
Schedule a New Client Consultation and I will assess your hair and let you know if your hair is healthy and long enough to start locs or if you need to wait a little longer. The typical length to start locs is three inches but I have started locs with shorter hair.
It's extremely important to keep your starter locs covered whenever you're sleeping or laying down. Keep your locs hydrated by investing in a spritz bottle and filling it with water & a capful of oil and misting your locs daily. I recommend coconut oil, tea tree oil or jojoba oil depending on what your locs & scalp need. Misting your baby locs with water will also speed up the loc’ing process. You should wait at least a month for your first shampoo and retwist. I would also recommend staying away from styles so your locs can go through the proper stages to mature without the interference that styles could cause. Book your first retwist session with me and I'll go over loc care & maintenance tips and answer any questions you may have so you can navigate your loc journey with wisdom and confidence!
I primarily use palmrolling to retwist locs. I also utilize other methods such as crocheting, interlocking, backcombing and the twist & pull method. The styles I offer are two strand twists, four strand twists, barrel twists, braided plaits, straightback cornrows, Pop Smoke cornrows, updos and custom styles. I also offer loc installs, instant locs, faux locs, loc repair and reattachment and loc combining and extensions.

Styles look best on a fresh foundation. Because of that, you must select a retwist based on your loc length along with a style when booking your loc session. Styles and add-on services can not be booked alone.
No, I do not service microlocs or sisterlocks at this time.
Nope, you'll save some money if I only have to service your crown. Please see Retwist on Crown service.
Always schedule your barber appointment for after your loc session. This allows me to separate the hair that goes into the locs from the hair that will be trimmed. This simple step will prevent your barber from cutting into your locs which can cause thinning over time. This will make your barber's job a lot easier and leave you with a crisper cut and cleaner look overall.
